Policy Update: Zero-Emission Requirements for the Norwegian Offshore Fleet
October 30 @ 8:30 am–10:00 pm
The Norwegian government has announced zero-emission requirements for the offshore fleet, and last year the Norwegian Parliament decided that low-emission requirements will be introduced in 2025 and zero-emission requirements from 2029.
The offshore fleet is the spearhead of technological development in Norwegian shipping. It consists of around 500 vessels of various types and is the world’s most valuable offshore fleet after the USA. It accounts for around 30 percent of emissions from Norwegian shipping, which is the highest of all segments, and is crucial for achieving climate goals.
Is the technology and industry ready for zero-emission requirements for the offshore fleet? How can we establish the necessary infrastructure and value chain, and how should the requirements be formulated to have the greatest impact on transformation?
Together with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Climate and Environment, Maritime CleanTech invite operators on the continental shelf, offshore shipping companies, technology firms, and the rest of the value chain to a breakfast meeting to discuss the way forward.
